Breast of Friends is an organisation which helps and supports people diagnosed with breast cancer, whether male or female.
Paphos Running Club and Sole Sisters (ladies only section), have for several years sponsored Breast of Friends and organised a Coffee Morning and a run/walk over a 5k distance from Paphos Harbour - an out and back course along the beautiful coastline, mostly flat and very scenic. Usually held in early October, dates will always be posted when it will take place.
Over the years of sponsoring Breast of Friends the club has managed to help raise nearly €20,000. This money goes not only toward research, but pays for vital equipment that breast cancer patients may need during the course of their treatment.
This is how the money raised has helped;
- Lymphoedema sleeves.
- Funds have been donated to PASYKAF nurses for all cancer care.
- A storage shed for storage of cancer equipment.
- A new small hospice is in process which will accommodate 6 cancer patients and a contribution will go toward this.
- A special ripple bed for use by patients when needed.
We also raise funds in other ways for this worthy cause at other times during the year, so it is worth checking out the website from time to time.
